About Lori Bittenbender

I started out as a bio major in college because I wanted to go to dental school.  The first sign I wouldn’t be called Dr. Wyman (my maiden name) was when I studied really hard for my first biology test and didn’t score very well.  Science classes continued to be very difficult and boring.  The only good thing to come of them was meeting my husband in bio lab.

Since I absolutely loved being on my high school yearbook staff (I was even editor-in-chief senior year), I researched the publishing industry and changed my major to Communications.  I took my first public relations class and my career path became even more clear.

After I graduated, I started out as an intern at a public relations firm in Southern California.  I worked there for three years, eventually becoming an Account Executive, and it was the best training for my career.  I learned multi-tasking skills from working on various accounts, I fine- tuned my pitching skills from being thrown into the media fire and was blessed with senior mentors who provided me with constructive criticism as well as praise.

I draw on my experiences from that firm almost daily.

My creativity in PR has garnered numerous awards from various Southern California Public Relations Societies of America including: Protos Award, Media Relations Program for Club Disney and  PRism award for the Million Dollar Homerun Hitting Contest, Coors Brewing Company.

PR can provide an amazing high when I get my client on TV, on the radio or in print.  It can also provide an equally amazing low when the media says no.  You see, when you add me to your team, your goals become my goals.  I appreciate your craft, your industry and your bottom line.  I celebrate when your products or services sell and feel your frustration when they don’t.

With more than ten years of PR experience, I’ve seen how the power of PR can build a brand and credibility, position business owners as experts and influence target audiences.

As a PR freelancer, I consistently attend networking meetings with local PR groups to maintain and create new relationships with local TV producers and newspaper editors.

In order to maintain my creativity and a successful business, I believe in learning new things and trying new experiences.  I enjoy reading business books, practicing yoga, creative writing and I even became a licensed massage therapist.  One of my favorite things to do is spend time with my family, who provide a bounty of inspiration and support.
